Aunque la guerra civil de 36 años ha terminado, la sociedad guatemalteca todavía está luchando para reconstruir a partir de esta historia de las guerras y los conflictos étnicos. Una oportunidad y un desafío es la necesidad de involucrar a los jóvenes guatemaltecos, muchos de los cuales continúan siendo marginados de la vida política. Participar en las elecciones no es sólo una puerta de entrada a la participación ciudadana más, la presentación de informes sobre las elecciones ofrece una oportunidad para que las voces de los jóvenes que rara vez se escuchan para dar forma al diálogo nacional.
